RMIT Researchers Develop Light Bricks from Cigarette Butts

In the world we’re living today, the use of cigarette products around the world is increasing exponentially, meaning that waste production from cigarette butts will also increase. However, technological developments are now beginning to create new ideas to overcome the large amount of waste production.

In 2018, Dr. Abbas Mohajerani, a scientist from Australia found a solution to this specific problem. His solution was to use cigarette butts as an additional material in making bricks because the use of cigarette butts in bricks produces lighter bricks and reduces production costs.

This innovation makes bricks a more environmentally friendly product which can reduce cigarette waste and use less energy in manufacturing it.
